Events are kick-started by the Carole Nash Bristol Classic Bike Show at the Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet on February 5-6, followed swiftly by Race Retro at Stoneleigh (on Feb 21-23) and the Telford Twin Shock, Classic and Road Racing Show (Feb 22-23).
And while the British scene picks up from its winter slumbers with these shows, this issue of CBG takes on something of an American feel with a big feature on Cafe Racer TV – the Stateside Show that’s aired on the Discovery Channel and is helping fuel the re-emergence of the cafe racer and turning a whole new bunch of people on to the joys of customising and riding old bikes.
Still with the stars and stripes theme, we’ve got the tale of the Ugly Green Sportster with an historic timeline view of Harley’s long-running V-twin; plus we have a really stunning street tracker custom based on a modern Triumph Bonneville, but taking its styling cues from 1970s dirt track racing. Even the sparkling Matchless single cover bike has a So Cal feel to it.
To balance the bling, there’s a road trip with the BSA Owners Club to Norway that Charley Boorman would be proud of, a lovely Ariel Square Four restoration story, and the second part of our Villiers twins and singles-powered British bike buyer’s guide.
Enjoy the read…
