CBG Track Day Gallery
Classics were in abundance at the inaugural Classic Bike Guide track day, at Cadwell Park, on 8 October.
Grimsby's Dave Smith built this Rob North Trident purely for track days and parades. It boasts all the regular trick parts but Dave is not too keen on the cut and thrust of pure competition. He also brought along his 1966 Norton Atlas cafe racer.
Here's another Dave Smith, this time from near Blackpool, and another Trident, albeit a fairly stock 1975 T160. Bought as a shed some five years ago, Dave has completely restored and rebuilt it.
Tom Webster made the long ride up from Surrey with his Dresda Triton. He's owned it about six years. It was constructed by Dresda maestro himself Dave Degens and comprises a 1956 Wideline Featherbed frame with a 1971 T120 engine.
Cambridge based Dave Green bought his 1966 T120 three years ago, from an exporter who had built up seven such examples to sell to Austria. This model was purchased minus its engine. It now sports a five-speed box, but is otherwise standard.
Mike Moyne hails from Rutland and has had his 1965 T120 for some 10 years. It has been restored by George Hopwood to Thruxton specification, with particular attention paid to the porting of the head.
Bob Chapman was struggling to get his 1957 Norton International to fire up, despite it having run well all morning. Eventually, father George swapped the spark plug and it struck up immediately. George and Bob, from Bath, built the Inter from parts.
Yorkshire builder Steve Sawyer has been well known in Forgotten Era and Post Classic racing for a long time, supplying bikes such as TZ750 Yamaha, for others to ride. However he decided, at least for today, he was going to ride this 1985 RC30 himself
A bike which made the Japanese sit up and take notice in the late 70s, early 80s - Mike Botting's 250cc Rotax tandem twin engined Cotton.
Terry Bateman has owned his 1962 BSA A7SS cafe racer for over 12 years. It wears Norton Roadholder forks and an 18in front wheel in place of the standard 19in.
