Devotees to the cult of speed are gearing up in readiness for their annual south coast celebration of all things fast

The Frosts National Brighton Speed Trials take place on Saturday, September 8, in the town’s Madeira Drive and the Vintage Motor Cycle Club Sprint Section is organising the motorcycle entry to this year’s event.

All classes of motorcycle are catered for, from classic to modern. One of the most popular is the vintage consistency class where machines make two timed runs over a quarter mile and try to make them as close to one another as possible.

VMCC Sprint Section spokesman and speed trials secretary Juan V Manzano said: “Let me tell you it has been amazing to see how competitive this class has become. Since we introduced the consistency class we have attracted back some rare and fine machinery over the years with some brilliant rides.

“This year’s event is sure to be even better. If you want to see quarter mile sprinting at its best and at its oldest venue why not come down to Brighton and join us for the day?  Come and see a wide array of motorcycles from 1910 through to today’s modern machines all competing for such trophies as The Dolphin Trophy, The Sussex Trophy and The John Rich Memorial Trophy, not forgetting the The Phil Manzano Award.”
