Oh we do like to be beside the seaside

The annual Norton OC big one dayer was down to the Norfolk Branch to organise this year, and a good job they made too. Held at the Youth Centre, in the centre of Hunstanton, the turnout saw riders from as far away as Bristol and Scotland.

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside

Best in Show – Phil Field, 650SS Café Racer

The weather was ideal and the venue spacious and comfortable and the variety of machines exceptional with most models in abundance.

As expected Commandos were most prolific, but there were lightweights, singles ohv, sv and cammy, heavyweights, racers, café racers, specials and rotaries too.

Best in show went to Phil Field with his café racer 650SS. The paintjob on the fuel tank depicted a rocker lazing around outside the Ace Café, with the top surface painted as a period jukebox. The rest of the bike was a plethora of chrome and polish.

The Mayor of Hunstanton presented the awards as follows:
Lightweight – Al Osborn, Electra
Heavyweight twin – Dave Catton, 1960 M99
Commando – Mark Mowbray, 1974 Mk2 850
Single ohv/sv – Paul Clarke 1936 16H
Single ohc – Tony Lockwood, 1938 M40 Inter
Combination – Kev Feltoe, 1957 M77 Busmar
Rotary – Dave Green, Commando replica
Ridden – Brian Cattermole, 1960 M99
Special – Mark Warriner, Norvin
Best in Show – Phil Field, 650SS Café Racer
