Packed house at Jack's

Ton Up Day, Jack's Hill Cafe...
It was a trip back in time at Jack's Hill cafe, near Towcester, on Sunday 25 July, as cafe racers and rockers alike descended in their droves to enjoy the annual Ton Up Day. Modern machines were present too, but sensibly, the moderns and the classics were segregated into their own parking areas. The chips were frying, the teapot on the boil, The Rapiers were belting out their brand of rock 'n' roll, The Rocketeer was spinnin' the wax in between times, with original 60s star Mike Berry topping the bill and the air was thick with burned Castrol R, what's more the sun shone too! Just brilliant.
Organised by the old rocker himself Chester Dowling, assisted by Sean and Sue Peschiera and Doug Smith, the Best in Show award went to Eric Cox's splendid red Triton which was completed just on the eve of the April Stafford Show. Best cafe racer went, would you believe, to Anton's BSA C15, with Pete's International Norton taking Best British and Paul's Tribsa Best Custom - surnames were deemed unnecessary!
See Gallery for a few of Pete Baumber's images of the day.
