Middle class parenting at its best!

Oh, the shock – a father sitting on a motorbike, smoking, while his young son looks on. Nowadays, such behaviour could be seen as bad parenting; however, said gentleman is Graham Walker, who has just won the Lightweight TT race, and the young boy is one Graham Murray Walker.

The year is 1931 and Graham Walker Snr has had a successful TT campaign for Rudge, winning the Lightweight race and coming fifth in both the Junior and Senior races.

It was a strong year for Rudge against the might of Norton, though Ernie Nott, another Rudge-mounted rider, had led the Lightweight race by some margin until the final lap, when he crashed.

Walker, Tyrell-Smith and Ted Mellors (on a New Imperial) passed Nott, who wilfully managed to nurse the Rudge back to finish a fine fourth.
