Products: Schuberth C4 Pro flip-up helmet

More and more riders are wearing flip-up helmets as they make life easier, as well as giving good protection.

This Schuberth C4 Pro is expensive, at £600 plus the Bluetooth system, but if you do a lot of miles on a bike like I do, it seems more justifiable to buy a top-of-the-range helmet.

I ride up to 30,000 miles a year on a bike, so comfort is paramount, as is avoiding fatigue.

The C4 is among the quietest helmets out there, as Schuberth is one of few manufacturers with an acoustic wind tunnel.

Whether I’m on a naked bike, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 with its little screen or a full on tourer, the C4 is whisper-quiet.

I still wear ear plugs for any distance, but the lack of turbulence or wind noise from visor or vents is noticeably absent, and a lot of work has gone into making the base of the helmet seal, again helping to prevent noise, but also rain and cold.
