Triumph is streets ahead

TRIUMPH HAS UPDATED its Street Scrambler and Street Twin models for 2019. The company’s range of modern classics has been a big hit with buyers, including those new or returning to two wheels and those who never left.

Launched in 2017, the Street Scrambler has a rugged off-road attitude that can be traced back to the early 1960s when the world’s first Triumph scramblers were born with the Bonneville T120 TT and TR6 ‘C’. The new-for-2019 Street Scrambler comes with a significant step-up in power and specification, new first-in-class technology, and an even higher level of finish and scrambler detailing. It introduces major updates with power and performance being top of the list.

The 900cc High Torque Bonneville engine has been upgraded to deliver 9bhp more peak power, taking the total to 64bhp, 18% more than its predecessor. The new 2019 Street Twin gets the same step up in power, a higher specification of equipment, more rider comfort and new technology. Launched in 2016, the Street Twin has become the single biggest selling modern classic in the range.

To deliver the higher power and performance, the engine updates include a new magnesium cam cover, new lightweight crankshaft, dead shafts and balance shafts, new mass optimised clutch cover and a new lighter clutch. On top of the engine updates, the new Street Twin retains ride-by-wire controls, liquid cooling and high service intervals of 10,000 miles (16,000km). A dealer-fitted A2 licence kit, incorporating APS twist grip and engine tune, will be available for both machines.
