The London to Land’s End trial first began as a reliability trial in 1908. It has been held every year since, with only two wars halting proceedings – and we see here, in 1926, how popular it was as a spectator event.

The unfortunate rider has possibly given the machine’s (not sure what) all to get up the incline, only to run wide on the hairpin… in front of the entire local population! And notice how everyone is wearing a hat.
