More power to the pageant

A new lap record was set on the 1.2 mile Cheshire track by Scott Mansell, in a Caterham Superlight SP/300.R race car. His time was 61.89sec which beat the previous 62.68sec record set by Nikki Faulkner in a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera LP570-4 in 2010.

The RAF won the popular Tri-Services Helicopter Agility competition, the only public demonstration of its type in the UK and on the estate’s lakes, water bikes and powerboats performed high-speed demonstrations and passenger rides. The lake also provided the venue for the air-sea rescue displays by RAF Valley.

While primarily a car event, there were scrambles demonstrations – i.e. a race – plus track runs from the likes of Mick Hemmings on the McIntyre Matchless, Sammy Miller with his new V8 Moto Guzzi, Tony Haywood with his JPS Norton and more besides.
