Security saves bikes and cash

Reading an article on bike security the other day in a copy of Motorcycle, Scooter and Three-Wheeler Mechanics from 1960, they suggested swapping the magneto spark plug leads round as a security measure. Today you need to be better prepared.

With a new two-wheeled baby on the way, it was time to sort out some new security as most of mine is good, but quite old.

As many insurance companies now offer substantial discounts for riders using Sold Secure Motorcycle Gold or Thatcham3 locks they seemed worth laying out the extra for, if only for the savings.

No lock and chain is going to prevent a dedicated and equipped thief but my approach to security is similar to the advice given to Canadian hikers about how to escape from a bear:
